As a family we were all very impressed with Harold P. Heywood Funeral Service, Failsworth. We all felt very comfortable talking to Michael, he is very good at what he does. He makes everyone feel at ease from start to finish. We thought it was so touching how he promised to take care of my beloved nana when he collected her from her home. Micheal continued to reassure us that she was being well cared for and this was very comforting. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience and was able to guide us through every decision we made. Well i am totally lost for words what to say. We never actually chose this funeral director, my mum did through her funeral plan and I can honestly say I have never experienced a more professional funeral director like michael and the team. The respect and dignity was absolutely amazing. On my mums final journey michael shown so much respect and affection from start to finish. The way he bowed to my mum before leaving her home, then when we got to the chapel on our final walk with my mum and also at the end of the service. I am so overwhelmed with the support that has been shown to my family. I have unfortunately have had too many loses in my family and I can truly say I totally wish I had known about this funeral director before because I can honestly say iv never seen or experienced the professionalism like michael and team show. All members of staff at Heywoods were very nice , the offices were appropriate and the chapel of rest was very calming . Michael was lovely he went above and beyond and attended to every detail perfectly. He was extremely thorough and whilst we were going through a very distressing time his manner was very calming and he was able to guide us step by step to achieve what we wanted. On the day of the funeral Michael and his members were so respectful , we could not have asked for anything better. So a huge Thankyou to Heywoods for all your love and kindness at a really bad time in our lives.

Collected the ashes from Heywoods and I was astounded by the presentation and the thought behind everything they gave me, the touches and the love and care displayed by every little detail was truly amazing , I really cannot thank Michael, Diane and all at Heywoods for the compassion care and love they have extended to us at such a traumatic time in our life. We can’t thank michael and his team at Harold P. Heywood Funeral Service enough for all they did for us at a heartbreaking time. Micheal went above and beyond with ensuring our Darryll’s day went as we wanted. The communication is above expectations as when speaking to family who have delt with funerals before commented how great the service is. The extra little touches that were done for us before and after are overwhelming and heartfelt. They are truly all Angels and we would recommend them to all we no. There will never be anoth words to say that will show the gratitude and respect we have for the service and we will forever be thankful to the team. We also used Danielle to do Darryll’s service and she was more than expected. She captured Darryll exactly how he was and was a gem. There is not one person who went to Darryll’s celebration of life , who has not commented on how lovely the service was.

Michael was amazing from start to finish. He listened closely to what we wanted and gave true, honest advice depending on what would be better for us. His communication throughout was spot on. It was never too early or too late and always replied promptly. Loved that he set up a family WhatsApp as this made things so much easier to organise and ask questions. He was personable, approachable and so down to earth. Couldn’t have asked for a better funeral director and it felt like he was a member of our own family and a friend. I would highly recommend using their services! Everything was perfect.

I would just like to thank Michael for his professionalism in looking after my sister whilst she was in his care. Nothing was too much trouble and he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for her and us. Small, thoughtful gestures that meant a lot to the family.

At a very difficult time for my family after losing our son, the one thing that really helped us through was Michael, the Funeral Director at Harold P Heywood Funeral Service … we are so glad that we went with this company and in particular Michael, instead of one of the larger national company’s. Michael guided us through the whole funeral process with great sensitivity and with such a personal touch. Everything was meticulously planned down to the very last detail. Wonderful, personal service from start to finish. I felt we were being dealt with by a friend. Micheal was amazing with even the smallest details covered.

Amazing service – Michael supported us during the unexpected death of a family member. Having used the funeral directors before, we rang for advice on the process. Michael answered and guided us through what would happen even taking the time to ring us later in the day to see how things with emergency services were going. Michael has continued to support us this throughout the funeral arrangements. He goes the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect on the day. He’s patient, caring and respectful. All members of the team have treated us with such great care and attention. I will never use anyone else to arrange a loved one’s funeral.

We are grateful for the service and process in the organisation leading up to my late Mother’s service/ burial and the help Michael and colleagues gave. It is a nice family run business and especially gives a interpersonal and empathetic touch. Me and my family appreciate everything throughout and support/ guidance during the burial. Michael and Co were so patient and accommodating especially during the burial itself as we wanted to do it ourselves as opposed to the digger and took longer than expected. A lot of people that attended gave nice feedback that it was a beautiful, befitting and a dignified burial as well as an emotional and memorable service/ send off. We, like others, particularly loved the video put together by Michael that was played. We thank you so much for putting that together in the way that you did , it was perfect.

I’ve only previously used Co-op funeral services & although being satisfied with the service given it did feel a little too much business like.
What soon came apparent when meeting Michael was this is much more than a business to him & the staff but more of a passion to understand & provide to the best of their ability the type of service the family wanted.
There were little extra touches Michael suggested & provided that made this funeral extra special & bespoke to the deceased.
Having never met Michael before I must say on our first meeting it was like talking to a family member or a good friend, such was his ability to put you at ease especially in knowing what we would be discussing.

Michael from Harold P Heywood recently arranged my Friends Mum’s funeral and I would recommend him and his company to anyone. He guided her through the process with care and understanding and explained everything very clearly to her. We were very pleased with the whole service, from first contact with Darren, who is kind and very helpful. He spends time talking you through everything, and puts you completely at ease. Recommends third party services such as florists etc but doesn’t put you under any obligation to use, is most helpful. Would highly recommend for an honest, family run service.

We would highly recommend Wild & Brierley Darren and his team were helpful and extremely professional nothing was too much trouble for them and was constantly updating us on everything that was happening at the sad time. I’ve been lucky enough to not have needed to engage a funeral director until recently, but can truly say that I don’t know what we’d have done without Michael. He calmly and kindly guided us through the very painful process and lightened the load wherever he could. You instinctively trust him implicitly to do right by your loved one and I can honestly say he went above and beyond. From sourcing hair extensions for our queen, to setting up a whatsapp group to keep us all informed. He had thoughtful ideas that captured the sentiment of how we wanted the ceremony to be delivered and really was a rock for the few weeks on the lead up. The chapel of rest was beautifully set and he navigated us through some of the most challenging times we’ve had in our lives. Also taking extreme care and consideration of a 13 year old who had lost her Mum. It’s the little things that make every bit of difference and so I couldn’t recommend Michael and the team enough. I hope I don’t have to engage the services of the team again anytime soon, though I know I couldn’t possibly be in safer, more capable or compassionate hands if I did.

Michael and the Team were absolutely excellent, from the initial contact all the way through to the service, everyone we had dealings with was sympathetic, professional, respectful, patient and made the whole experience so much easier for the Family. In addition, their recommendations for flowers and venues for the function after the funeral were excellent and made what was always going to be a difficult day a lot less stressful. EVERYONE at the funeral commented just how lovely the service was, with particular mention to Roger the celebrant who hit the right notes of respect and humour. Professional and caring with a friendly manner at a difficult time

This is the 4th time we have used Wild & Brierley, over the last 10 years. Each time everything is professionally taken care of with compassion showed at all times. This last Funeral we have just had was perfectly done with everything going to plan as we had asked for like the last 3 . When we came to see my mum in the Chapel of Rest, (which we did three days running, thank you), she really did look at peace and out of pain; she just looked like she was sleeping, fantastic work

Also Michael thanks for uploading all my mums photos onto it from the slide show which you set up for the ceremony. And the order of service was beautiful.

Also, on the day of the funeral, thank you for the respect which you showed to my mum: bowing your head and taking your hat off to her, walking in front of the hearse both out of the street and when we got to the Crematorium, all very traditional which she would have liked.

I can only extol and praise the services of this funeral director. When we lost our dad it was the first time my sister and I had had to arrange a funeral. Michael guided us through the process with warmth, compassion and professionalism from day one. From our first contact with him, he assured us that being a family firm, dad would be treated as a member of his own family. This meant so much to us at a very difficult time. In our first appointment, Michael took the time to explain everything to us, and guided us through all the choices related to the funeral with kindness and care. We did not feel rushed or pressurised to make decisions straight away. When we went to see Dad in the chapel of rest, Michael and his team had looked after Dad beautifully. The chapel itself had a feeling of calm and peace and we were treated with total respect and privacy whilst we said our goodbyes to Dad. The day itself was absolutely perfect, everything we had requested was carried out to a T. Michael had even arranged an accessible car for Mum who is a wheelchair user and organised the seating in the chapel to accommodate Mum’s chair. He also took the time to ask Mum if everything was ok for her. Every member of staff, from the hearse driver to the office staff was professional and kind. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who has lost a beloved member of their family and I would use them again in the future. Perhaps the best recommendation I can give is that I have instructed my grown up children to use them for me when my time comes. Thank you so much to all the team.

Mum had already decided that she wanted to use Harold P. Heywood to arrange her funeral that was not the difficult part. The difficult part was leaving our mum to be looked after by others before she was laid to rest with our Dad. We need not have worried. From the first time we met Michael we knew that Mum had made the perfect choice. Michael was kind, caring and compassionate we found him and his team to be professional at all times. He promised to treat mum with the respect and dignity that she so deserved and we had no hesitation about leaving our dearly loved mum in his and his team’s care. We are 4 adult children who all had something different that we wanted as part of the funeral arrangements /service and Michael and his team were able to facilitate all our wishes. On the day of the funeral we did not have to think at all about what we needed to do or where we needed to be. Michael was the perfect director- ensuring that every little detail was taken care of just as Mum and we had wanted. Having recently lost our much loved husband, Dad, Papa/Grandad, we called Heywood funeral services to make the arrangements, something none of us had ever done before.

We went to the office as a family where we met Michael who re assured us he would look after everything for us down to the minute details. He kept in contact with us throughout the process, sometimes out of working hours, when he should have been having some well deserved time off.

The day itself was just perfect if that’s how you could describe a funeral, with lots of family and friends commenting on what a great job Michael did.

We sadly suddenly lost our Dad/Grandad in November, I honestly didn’t know where to start.

Michael talked us through every aspect with such care & made sure all our wishes were met.

Along with the funeral arrangements, music & photos for the slide show in the crematorium, I was also able to arrange for a beautiful display of red roses for on top of the coffin, and his order of service cards were absolutely amazing. We would like to thank all the staff at Wild and Brierley for helping us with our eleven year old son’s funeral. Wild & Brierley went way beyond providing a professional service, it was more like they were our friends .

We found Darren & Michael to be so helpful. Darren and Michael took care of everything with the arrangements taking any extra work away from us. Everything was done according to our wishes all along. Michael was excellent at doing the modern online stuff like an online obituary and setting up an online tribute with charity donation page. Michael did many extras for us and gave so much of his own time just out of being a great example of humanity.

We met Darren every two days to make sure the arrangements were progressing , Darren also gave us so much of his time, advice and experience. The most striking attribute of Darren was his compassion. Darren wanted to meet our other son in advance of the funeral so he would have a relationship with him before the funeral. Darren offered my son the chance to walk with him in the procession in front of the hearse. This was very special and it helped our 13 year old son.

Our son was cared for with the utmost respect and dignity ,he was laid out beautifully in the large Chapel of Rest .Our son had three big boxes of teddies which were displayed and spent the last night with him in the Chapel of Rest . Lesley kissed each teddy as she put them back in their boxes on the  morning of the funeral , this  gesture of humanity was so meaningful to us.

I would also like to compliment Mark, the hearse driver for his compassion , he cared so much that he made a stand for our son’s hoodie so it would not fall over while on display in the hearse. The funeral was a Mass and burial , all of the staff involved on the funeral , Darren, Michael, Mark and Jack carried out their duties to plan and with great respect and dignity.

Every way possible all along, Wild & Brierley helped us and made things easier for us. They were more than happy to accomodate all of our requests .We were able to give our  son the best funeral we could plus more by using Wild & Brierley. We are very grateful for their help, generosity, kindness , compassion and humanity.

Although it’s under extremely difficult circumstances, Michael was incredibly friendly, caring, and professional from the start to finish.

When my mum found out she had terminal lung cancer one of the things she wanted to do was arrange her funeral to take off some of the pressure from family. We met with Michael and straight away my mum loved him, he made her feel so relaxed and reassured and she actually came out with a smile on her face, her words were if I’ve got to go I will be happy knowing Michael will look after me and give me a nice send off.

That is exactly what he did. When mum passed he did as he promised her, went to collect her and put in place all mum’s wishes, what I thought would be a stressful situation sorting a funeral wasn’t, Michael sorted everything we wanted, he kept us up to date with everything, it ran so smoothly. The service was lovely, he gave her a beautiful, respectful service from start to finish.

Heywood funeral services late on a Friday and didn’t expect a call until Monday however Michael called me back on the Friday which I found very professional and we arranged to see him first thing on Monday. I really do not know where to start….as silly as this may sound we had the best possible experience with Heywoods and in particular Michael.

We had problems at the start with our sister’s funeral plan and registering her death. Both of these problems are not within a funeral director’s responsibility but Michael helped us out to no end and also outside of ‘office hours’. Nothing at all was too much trouble. Our sister was respected and taken care of just as if she was a member of their own family.

The love care and respect were beyond anything we expected. I know of others who have used other local funeral directors and while they didn’t have a particularly bad experience they did not have the same experience and personal touches we did. I cannot thank Heywoods enough. All the family will be changing/taking up a Golden Charter funeral plan as we discovered with others that you can’t choose your funeral directors and Heywoods are an absolute must hence the changes.I missed the funeral sadly as I was rushed into the hospital. Michael contacted me to check in on me and as if he hadn’t done enough already he sent me a gift box that contained a copy of the ministers’ transcript, copies of her obituary notice on small cards, and a beautiful glass heart with moving words ♥

I contacted Wild & Brierley to arrange my Mum’s funeral as they had arranged my Grandma’s and Aunts funeral previously and so i trusted them when it came to giving my Mum her final send off. We arranged flowers through them also, they used their preferred local florist Buddies ad I found their prices really competitive too. I can’t fault anything with their service at all. Myself and my family would like to thank Michael for doing an amazing job in arranging my Dads funeral. It was very special seeing Michael walk my Dad out of the close using one of my Dads handmade walking sticks as his cane and with all the neighbours stood applauding him.

Michael is obviously very passionate about his job and it shines through! He is a credit to the company and a great ambassador. They are very lucky to have a young man working for them with such a passion. I am sure my Dad will have been over the moon with the arrangements.

I couldn’t of chose anyone better!! My dad passed away on 11/9/19 and we went to see Michael to arrange the funeral. Michael made sure he went out of his way to make it perfect for us! We lost both our uncle and auntie within a year of each other. It turned our world upside down. We had no idea how to go about arranging a funeral the first time around when our beloved uncle passed away. I called so many funeral directors and found them so ‘matter of fact’ and lacking in empathy which only added to our misery and dismayed me some what considering the nature of their business. I came across Wild & Brierley and left a voicemail on a Saturday evening assuming it would be Monday before they got back to me and that was a big ‘IF’ taking in to account my recent experiences with other funeral directors. Much to my surprise , Michael returned my call the very next day on a Sunday afternoon on his day off. He was so compassionate kind and sincere. The one thing he promised and reassured was, he would support and guide us with the funeral and take care of all the arrangements with the family’s wishes. That was an understatement to say the least. Michael’s work ethic turned out to be thoroughly astounding! He took away all the stress and the additional pain that goes with arranging a funeral. Nothing was too much, no stone was left unturned for both funerals. It was like having the support, kindness and understanding of your best friend during the most difficult and painful time in your life. Michael, Darren and the whole team at Wild & Brierley are truly certified professionals and showed so much respect, consideration, before, during and after the funeral. Nothing was rushed, everything was done according to our wishes. So much so that everybody was talking about what a wonderful send of we had gave to both our uncle and auntie during the wake and how thoroughly respectful and dignified Michael and his team were. Suffice to say, Having Michael on bode was like having a family member take care of everything from the word ‘go’ and that is the why they are the BEST in our humble opinion. Personal, compassionate, reassuring, sincere, caring, reliable, and true in every sense of the word! Saved the best for last and i’m so glad Wild & Brierley were the last call i made that Saturday

Harold P. Heywood did my Gran’s funeral a couple of weeks ago and all i can say is the level of respect and professionalism is second to none.

I would like to say a personal thanks to you Darren, your son and all the staff at Wild & Brierley for the sensitive and professional way you handled the arrangements for my late Wife.

I knew it would be that way and i have not been in any manner disappointed.

My father sadly passed away in September 2014. I had never experienced the loss of a close family member and wasn’t entirely sure what to do once the doctor had visited – my father died at home. I rang Wild and Brierly and spoke to Darren. He was amazing! He organised to come round and see us within a couple of hours, guided us through the next steps and helped us through a terrible time with compassion and understanding above and beyond what I ever would’ve expected. He was kind, considerate and treated us all with respect. He organised the crematorium service for us, advising us on all the details we may never have even considered. My dad was a city fan and the hearse and funeral car even took us on a lap of the Etihad – we hadn’t asked for this but it was such a lovely touch that could have only been instigated by Darren taking the time to get to know us all. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough.

Thank you so much Michael for looking after my brother Stephen Murphy. You made a heartbreaking time in my families life that little bit easier. A big thank you to John Beever for getting us through one of the most difficult times in our life and keeping the service as happy and light as possible to celebrate his life. I can not thank you both enough and also to the lady i spoke to in your office who listened to me and put my mind at ease while i just cried all the way through the telephone call. 5 star rating is just not enough, thank you so much.

Amazing company! Darren gave my Grandma the best send off. As a family we were all very grateful for the compassion and care before and after the funeral.

The past 2 years for us as a family has been incredibly hard, we lost 4 people that we could never of imagined life without….. each one of them equally as heartbreaking and the last one leaving us totally deflated.

With absolutely no idea where to start or the strength to do it we called Harold P Heywood and spoke to Micheal who from that very first phone call professionally and compassionately listened, respected and carried out every single one of our wishes giving much needed advise along the way.

When the florist I ordered my single red roses with failed to bring them, i was absolutely broken and very worked up. I advised Micheal that they had not arrived and he said he would sort it…… and that’s just what he did….. by the time the service was over they was there and I could lay my Grandad to rest….. Absolutely outstanding service and once again at our rescue.

As a family who had been through so much, we felt a huge comfort and reassurance that Michael was their to guide us each time.

At the age of 28 you never expect to have to arrange a funeral for a parent. Nevertheless it’s what I had to do and I want to thank Michael for guiding me through the process and for always being available when I needed advice. Michael looked after my Mum’s funeral this week and my Uncle’s 4 months ago. After my Uncle’s I decided that I would not want to use anyone else for any loved ones – the staff were all brilliant, caring, courteous and above all professional. Mum’s funeral went without a hitch and my Dad was so happy with how Mum looked in the Chapel of Rest – all down to the staff – that in itself deserves 5 stars. After 64 years together Dad was comforted knowing how well Mum was treated by Michael and staff. Can’t thank them enough.

From our initial meeting with Michael we were made to feel at ease knowing that he would look after the family and my Dad would receive the crematorium service that he wished.
